SNUGGLETOWN! MEETING MINUTES May 10, 2004 Attendees: Sam Jiro Bob Ellie Aaron Arthur Brian Tzara Glen Marcia Agenda Items *things actually covered *Group affiliations - Emo Man et al Fine tune mission statement Ellie's fulcrum spiel *Creative/Art projects (allocate 15 mins. every meeting) Realistic expectations *Deadlines Group atmosphere *Map layout (work in progress) Power needs Rental needs *Application *Assign tasks Deadlines: July 1 is official deadline for application and questionnaire. We will have it done by June 15th! We need to be planning ahead for truck and generator rental reservations in order to guarantee we have them in time. Group affiliations: Emo Man group of approx. 6 men want to join our camp. Discussion resulted in the following guidelines we will use for any group that wants to join us: Must be compatible with and vibe to our mission statement Must be part of Snuggletown! (no signs identifying their group or a section of our camp) Must meet with two or three of their representatives prior to end of June Our expectations are that they will be part of Snuggletown!, sharing in the work responsibilities vs. acting as a separate entity. Bob and Sam volunteered to meet with Emo Man group reps. in Seattle area if their tentative trip plans materialize for May 15th. Rain Forest Refugee Camp has a village The Great North Wet - not clear whether they want us to be in their village or just next to it. Consensus is we choose not to be near them or in the village as it's important to establish our own identity this year with the dream of being our own village within 5 years, attracting other groups of like mind/spirit to Snuggletown! Application (for complete details see Tzara or website): Estimate 40-49 campmates 3 large vehicles and approx. 7 cars Camp area: 100 x 100' 2 generators Prefer NOT to camp next to Kid Zone or loud booming music Special needs: desire to be on Venus between 5 & 6 (explain why) Physical Description: focus more on this later as it's important to include a visually appealing description of how our camp will look to enhance placement preferences. Interactivity: need to assign this to Ellie or someone who will articulate the make up of our group (FNL, Love Tribe, Explorers), mission and what we bring to the playa. Assigned Task List Aaron, Tzara Layout and Clean up plan Glen Rentals (trucks, generators, ladders etc.) Ellie, Brian, Aaron Kitchen/Food/Evaporation Pond (shower) Tzara Application and Website (link map and clean up plan to application) Glen, Arthur, Brian Art projects Jiro, Ellie, Brian Group cheerleaders Bob Structures/Design Sam, Bob Liaison (to coordinate communication with affiliates and maintain group cohesiveness) Marcia Activities coordinator Arthur Finance Joanna or Aline Volunteer coordinator Tzara Travel logistics (for campers) Marcia, Edie Outreach and PR Ellie Orientation for nubies Art Space Ideas Project light show (on ceiling inside the two domes) of moving yantras along with audio of mantras (om) to run continuously. Glen will provide an oracle for center of each dome. We need a visually appealing entrance to capture attention like an arch or tunnel that leads into the domes. Could design it so that the Snuggletown! signs are visible from 3 angles. Revisit design ideas next meeting. Try to incorporate heart charka graphic symbol over the entrance. Decide on whether or not to make domes appear as boobies to attract attention. (They would need to be white, not green. White would also work for projecting images on the inside of domes.) Would be cool to have laser beams and misters in the entrance along with S.T. mission statement and guidelines. Mission Statement Snuggletown! recognizes that we are all connected and are working to create a body-positive, touch-positive community that facilitates authentic connections, nurtures our whole selves, provides opportunities to explore our passions and playfulness and facilitates healthy, caring, communal opportunities to meet our needs for connection and affection. Next Meeting May 20th (Thurs.) at Aaron's house. Be there at 6:45 pm, ready to start on time at 7 pm. Submit any agenda items to Aaron prior to this meeting. Aaron will facilitate this meeting with a balanced approach between logistics and creativity, making sure people have a chance to speak up before moving on. The role of facilitator will be discussed again re rotating the responsibility or not. We'll begin and end with an opening circle to begin setting the intent of our community.
